home-to-353,000Minnesota is fortunate to be home to over 353,000 veterans and service members. In fact nearly 3,000 of these brave men and women are members of the State of Minnesota workforce.

This November, Governor Dayton is honoring the state’s armed forces by proclaiming it Veteran and Service Member Appreciation month. To celebrate, the State of Minnesota is launching “Minnesota Honors You,” a statewide campaign to acknowledge, support, and extend appreciation to our veterans, service members, employees, and fallen heroes. Here are a few ways you can join us in showing appreciation to Minnesota’s veterans and service members:


November 20 – 30
Write a letter of thanks.

State of Minnesota employees and students will be writing thank you letters to our state’s veterans and service members. At the end of the month we will send the letters to Minnesota’s Veterans Homes

Say Thank You.

Nothing goes as far as a simple thank you. Take a moment to tell the veteran and service members in your life how much you appreciate their service. You can even share your thank you on social media, using the hashtag #VSAM.

Support Veterans by Volunteering.

Here is a list of some organizations that support veterans and service members. Find a time that works for you and your family or friends to give back to the state’s veterans and service members through volunteering.
