Communicating Strategically

This course will equip employees with the skills necessary to effectively deliver meaningful messages in a concise and diplomatic manner. Employees will learn a communication model that will ensure the information they share is heard and acted upon. The techniques and strategies presented in this course will help you be more effective when engaging with the public, members of your own agency or department, and members of other agencies and departments.

Recruit and Retain for Equity

This course will discuss the benefits of a diverse workforce and provide strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse team.  While this course would be helpful for leadership, it has been designed to be relevant for all employees. To recruit and retain a diverse workforce, it is believed it takes all levels of an organization working together towards this end.

IDI QA Certification

Training to complete Certification for Intercultural Development Inventory - Qualified Administrators. The Online IDI Qualifying Seminar (QS) will be presented by an experienced, licensed IDI Qualified Administrator in three sessions (4.5 hours each) across three days (one session per day). The QS is hosted on Zoom with each registered participant being sent information to access the event on the scheduled date and time. Attendance at an IDI® Qualifying Seminar and consent to the IDI License Agreement is required to use the IDI Assessment as an IDI Qualified Administrator.

Leadership Delegation: Leverage the Power of Your Team

Often employees are judged by what they personally work on, how fast it's done, and how well the outcome truly is. As a supervisor, it's all about the work your staff completes. Many managers struggle with delegation, but it doesn't have to be so difficult. Participants will learn which tasks they should do personally, and which ones should be delegated to employees. You will focus specifically on the top barriers of delegation, how to monitor and measure progress, and how to provide feedback without micromanaging.

Meeting Hero: Lead Productive In-Person, Virtual and Hybrid Meetings

Productive meetings don’t happen by chance. They are a result of careful planning and skilled facilitation. Because many meetings today have people participating via telework, there are some new challenges meeting leaders must overcome. Regardless of the meeting environment, meeting heroes make sure participants leave the meeting having met their goals and feeling proud of the work they accomplished with their colleagues.

Effective Virtual Presentations

This course provides the tools and techniques you need to translate your knowledge and expertise into a successful virtual presentation that is effective, dynamic, and engaging.  Participants are required to be familiar with Microsoft Teams and/or Cisco WebEx for presenting content. This includes basic knowledge using chat, share screen, and whiteboard functions. We will discuss both platforms for this training.

Effective Teams: How to Incorporate the YOU Factor

In this workshop, learn ways of contributing to technical work and group processes that support high performing teams.  At the end of this workshop, participants learn the following. 1. Understand the difference between independent and interdependent teamwork.  2. Utilize the team development process to guide actions and contributions.  3. Be more accountable to and for the team and hold others accountable, too.  4. Support collaboration and positive change in their work groups.

Maximizing Employee Performance

Discover how to maximize the performance of your direct reports and other employees to achieve critical organizational objectives.  It is your job to help your direct reports continue to develop professionally to ensure that ever-increasing organizational demands can be met.

Holding Difficult Conversations

Learn how to become more comfortable and effective in working through difficult conversations. By beginning with the end in mind, you will learn how to reverse engineer difficult conversations into simple, straightforward discussions that get results. In this course, you'll be provided with a step-by-step guide for having even the most difficult workplace conversations.

Strengthen Collaboration and Trust: Create a Drama-Free Workplace

Delivering Feedback

In this workshop, supervisors enhance skills and confidence in delivering effective feedback. At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to do the following. Understand why feedback should be given regularly and predictably; Implement an effective positive to constructive feedback ratio; Differentiate between recognition and positive feedback; and, Deliver constructive feedback in ways that reduce defensiveness, include the employee in making decisions about changes, and ensure follow-through.

Achieving Inclusive Excellence

This course will provide a comprehensive overview of how to plan and implement “inclusive excellence” in an organization. Define concepts such as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Describe the characteristics of inclusive excellence in an organization. Recognize overt and covert threats to inclusivity. Identify one’s role in creating a safe, inclusive environment. Apply strategies that mitigate microaggressions. Employ positive, interpersonal skills that increase workplace unity. Create a personal plan of action to work towards inclusive excellence.

Strategic Effectiveness for Aspiring Leaders (SEAL)

Strategic Effectiveness for Aspiring Leaders (SEAL) is ideal for state employees in non-management roles that aspire to become leaders in state government and wish to build skills that will move them towards this goal. Through defining the characteristics of a leader, participants will learn how they can lead more effectively, regardless of title. Topics include process leadership, presenting to senior-level staff, effective communication, and integration of your personal strengths into a leadership development plan.

Business Writing for Busy People

Do you want to be a more effective communicator in the workplace? This workshop will teach you how to craft clear messages that your audience will understand and take action on. We will explore business writing skills to help you communicate clearly and effectively across various mediums and types of messages. Prepare yourself for retirement, whether that time is rapidly approaching or more than five years down the road, with two of our most popular courses. ETD offers two seminars that cover important topics like estate planning, MSRS pension, and long-term care to name just a few.

State Retirement Seminar 2021


The State Retirement Seminar is back after being on hold due to our new remote work environments. Enterprise Talent Development hosts the retirement information seminar for state employees who are five years or less from retirement. The online seminar is four half-day sessions with speakers and expertise on pension and social security benefits, health care savings plan, state insurance benefits, estate planning, long-term care, and more. Based on demand, seminars will be added as needed.

Core Development
