Congratulations to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) of Minnesota on 100 years of service and advocacy! The organization marked this milestone with an historic centennial time capsule sealing ceremony on July 1.

Held just days before Independence Day, the ceremony offered a powerful reminder of the generations of Minnesotans who’ve worn the uniform – and the enduring community that supports them. Since its chartering on July 1, 1925, DAV of Minnesota has been at the forefront of championing Veterans’ rights, providing essential services, and fostering a community of support for those who have served. The event included the sealing of a cedar-lined time capsule containing artifacts representing a century of impact, commitment, and advocacy for Minnesota’s Veterans and their families.

Brad Lindsay, Commissioner - Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA), was honored to be invited to speak at the event and place the MDVA FY 2024 Annual Report in the time capsule. “The Disabled American Veterans of Minnesota are important partners of the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. Through our collaboration with Veterans Service Organizations like the DAV, we can better support the needs of Minnesota Veterans and their families,” Lindsay said. “DAV’s services are many and varied, providing an important connection between Veterans serving one another.”

In tandem with the centennial celebration, the DAV of Minnesota Foundation also announced that it has surpassed $4.5 million in total giving since 2005, funding critical support programs that enhance the quality of life for Veterans and their families across the state.
