Marital Status Discrimination

Discrimination based on marital status is illegal in Minnesota. Under the Minnesota Human Rights Act, marital status is a “protected class.”
And it is illegal to treat you differently because of your Marital Status in:
  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Public accommodations
  • Education
  • Credit
These are called “protected areas.”
