Boards and commissions make impactful decisions on the licensure, regulation, and required education for workers, which can affect the working conditions of everyday Minnesotans and their access to these professions. Board of Nursing - The Board of Nursing protects the public's health and welfare by overseeing and ensuring the safe practice of nursing in Minnesota. The Board holds nurses accountable for conduct based on legal, ethical, and professional standards. The Board currently has vacancies for 4 Registered Nurse and 2 Public Members. Board of the MN Humanities Center (Governor Appointed) - The Board of the MN Humanities Center serves as an advisory body for the Humanities Center that conducts professional development opportunities for educators and the public; creates and disseminates one-of-a-kind educational resources; partners with a variety of communities and organizations to offer humanities-based programs statewide; offers and manages state (legacy) and federal (NEH) grant to statewide organizations pursuing humanities-based projects; and operates a full-service meeting and event center. Board of Marriage and Family Therapy – The Board of Marriage and Family Therapy protects the public through effective licensure and enforcement of the statutes and rules governing the practice of marriage and family therapists to ensure a standard of competent and ethical practice. Board of Medical Practice – The Board of Medical Practice licensures and enforces statutes, laws, and rules related to the professional practice of physicians, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, acupuncturists, athletic trainers, genetic counselors, naturopathic doctors, and traditional midwives.
