Nicauris Heredia Rosario

Legislative and Policy Director - Economic Development

Nicauris (she/ella) is a 1.5 generation immigrant from the Dominican Republic and also a first-generation college graduate, earning her MA in Political Science from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2021 and her double BA in Political Science and Public Administration from Rhode Island College. She joined MCLA in pursuit of a career that aligns with her commitments to social justice, equity, and Latinx youth empowerment.

Prior to joining MCLA, Nicauris was a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Minnesota, with a concentration in International Relations, where she also worked as a Political Science Graduate Instructor. She was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships including the American Political Science Association Diversity Fellowship Program and the University of Minnesota Diversity of Views and Experience Fellowship among others.

Nicauris has previous experience working in both the public and nonprofit sectors. She interned at the World Affairs Council of Rhode Island and as a Citizen and Immigration intern for Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island. Nicauris also worked as a Legislative Intern for U.S. Congressman Jim Langevin and Rhode Island House Representative Grace Diaz. She was able to see how the government works behind the scenes, which fueled her desire to pursue a career in public service.

In her spare time, Nicauris enjoys reading, solving jigsaw puzzles, walking her dog, and dreaming about traveling the world.
