Born in London, England, April 24, 1854. In 1856 moved to Detroit, Michigan. Educated in the public schools and later became a teacher in Texas for 4 years. Came to Minnesota in 1880 and admitted to practice of law in 1881. Elected District Judge of Hennepin County and served for 3 years. Elected Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court January 1, 1894, and served one full six-year term.
