Justice, Chief Justice
Born October 9, 1899, Superior, Wisconsin. Moved with parents to farm near Warren, Minnesota, 1916. Graduated N.W. School of Agriculture 1919; Warren High School 1920. Attended St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, 1920-1921. Graduated University of Minnesota Law School 1927, LL.B Practiced law in Warren 1927-1941; appointed District Judge January 2, 1941, elected 1942. Resigned to accept appointment as Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1948, reelected thereafter. Appointed Chief Justice in 1962, in which capacity he served until his resignation in 1973. Died June 15, 1981. Tenure as Chief Justice was 1/25/1962 - 12/17/1973 or 10 years, 10 months, 22 days.
