Born May 29, 1896, Minneapolis. Graduated South High School, attended University of Minnesota one year, and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College. Served in army during World War I, discharged as First Lieutenant in Field Artillery. Graduated Minnesota College of Law and admitted to practice in 1921. Assistant Minneapolis City Attorney 1921-1923. Appointed Municipal Judge 1930, elected 1931. Elected District Judge 1936, and Associate Justice of Minnesota Supreme Court 1942. Elected Governor 1946, 1948, and 1950. Appointed Federal District Judge in Washington, DC. in 1951. Died June 21, 1978.
