Born in Waseca County, Minnesota, on September 10, 1885. Graduated from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1910. Received LL.B. degree. Admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1910. At age 27, selected Municipal Judge of the City of Waseca 1912-1913. County Attorney of Waseca County 1913-1915, 1919-1923. Member of Board of Law Examiners, 1926-1932. Appointed Chief Justice and assumed his duties February 15, 1937, and served until 1944, declining to run for reelection. Subsequently practiced law in Mankato. Died April 3, 1965. Tenure as Chief Justice was 2/15/1937 - 1/1944 or 6 years, 10 months.
