Born January 11, 1883, Town of Trenton, Pierce County, Wisconsin. Later came to Minnesota and attended public schools at Bayport. Graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1903 and Harvard Law School in 1908. Elected Mayor of Duluth 1917, resigned 1920, elected District Judge 1920. Appointed Associate Justice of Minnesota Supreme Court July 1, 1943, elected 1944, and reelected thereafter. Died May 14, 1962.
