This webpage will serve as a means to communicate updates on the impacts and remediation of the Mesabi Trail washout near Giants Ridge.
Updates will be provided weekly or as significant developments occur.
The photo to the right is a rendering of the proposed Mesabi Trail restoration which will include re-grading the existing channel between the Hector Mine Pit and the Embarrass River Diversion Channel, placing a new 6’ x 6’ concrete box culvert in the re-graded channel, and laying riprap in the channel to protect it from future erosion. The Mesabi trail will be constructed over the top of the box culvert, at a slight skew from the original trail alignment. Construction will take place in July and August, 2018.
