Corn Smut example
Corn smut is a common disease, or mold that infects the corn causing the cob to grow at an accelerated rate. Common in high humidity and wet environments. Actually a delicacy in many places in the world, including Mexico, but the smut must be harvested in its early stages. This example is no longer edible.

Variegated Amaranth
Variegation is the appearance of different colors, like white, cream, yellow, or pink, in patches or stripes on plant leaves and stems. Variegation can be caused by genetic mutations affecting pigment production, or by infection.
