[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz today announced the redesignation of the Honorable Jennifer L. Frisch as chief judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. In January 2025, Governor Walz designated her to fill the remainder of Chief Judge Susan Segal’s term, which expires on October 31, 2025. Chief Judge Frisch will now serve a three-year term expiring on October 31, 2028.
“Chief Judge Frisch’s continued commitment to thoughtful deliberation, fairness, and the highest standard of judicial excellence is what makes this court so revered,” said Governor Walz. “I have full confidence in her leadership and ability to guide the court with wisdom and integrity.”
About Jennifer L. Frisch:
Chief Judge Jennifer Frisch was appointed in 2020 as a judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals and was designated chief judge in January 2025. She previously served as assistant chief judge in the Second Judicial District and as senior associate general counsel at the University of Minnesota. Frisch is an at-large member of the Minnesota Judicial Council and chair of the Council’s Court Operations Policy and Strategy Committee. She previously served on the Governor’s Council for Justice Reinvestment in Minnesota. Frisch’s community involvement includes serving on the Board of the Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society, presiding as a moot court judge, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels. She earned her B.A. from Macalester College and her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.
