[ST. PAUL, MN] – Today, Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Chief Justice Natalie Hudson announced the appointment of Liz Kramer to the Commission on Uniform State Laws. She will serve the remainder of the late Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman’s term, expiring on May 31, 2027.

About the Appointee 
Liz Kramer: Liz Kramer is the solicitor general for the State of Minnesota, where she defends the constitutionality of state laws and represents Minnesota in state and federal appellate courts. She was previously a partner at Stinson LLP, where she practiced complex commercial litigation, and a law clerk to the Honorable Helen M. Meyer on the Minnesota Supreme Court. Kramer’s community involvement includes serving on the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee for the Rules on Civil Appellate Procedure and the boards of the Minnesota State Fair Foundation and Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society. Kramer’s community involvement has also included serving on the Appellate Practice Section Council of the Minnesota State Bar Association and helping found the Appeals Self-Help Clinic for self-represented parties in appeals. She earned her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and her J.D. from Yale Law School.

About the Commission on Uniform State Laws 
The Commission on Uniform State Laws studies and provides recommendations and drafting services for uniform acts around the country. The commission consists of the Revisor of Statutes and three members appointed by the Governor, Chief Justice, and Attorney General. Commission members represent Minnesota at the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws and other similar conventions.
