Special Teacher

Salary Range: $21.14 to $40.15 per hour; $44,140 to $83,833 per year

Work Locations: Positions with the Department of Corrections may occur at various Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) locations throughout the state.

Job Duties: Provide appropriate and effective direct classroom instruction to offenders including preparing, maintaining, and assessing personal education plans (PEPs) for each student.

Maintain a well-managed, comprehensive instructional environment.

Perform all classroom administrative functions in a timely manner for accountability purposes.

Manage special projects for the education department.

Minimum Qualifications:

* To qualify for consideration for Special Teacher, you must have: A bachelor's degree

AND

Possession of a current, full-time Minnesota teaching license.

Special Note: Vacancy announcement will specify the student level and subject area of the license (i.e. ABE, K-12 Emotional Behavior Disorder, etc)

* To qualify for consideration for Intermittent Special Teacher, you must have: A bachelor's degree

AND

Possession of a current full-time K-12 or ABE Minnesota Teaching License

OR

Possession of a current Minnesota Short Call Substitute License.

Please note that a criminal history check will be conducted on the successful candidate for a position prior to the start date, and new employees must be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
