Communications Internship

Location: Minnesota Department of Corrections Central Office, 1450 Energy Park Dr, Suite 200, St Paul

The Minnesota Department of Corrections media and communications office is seeking a communications intern. Duties include:

  • Editing PowerPoint presentations
  • Editing articles for various publications
  • Assisting with social media postings
  • Assisting with taking photos and video as needed
  • General office duties

Applicant will gain experience in a government office setting, and have the opportunity to build their portfolio and learn a variety of skills. Applicants should have an interest in communications, journalism, public affairs, or marketing, and should be proficient in Microsoft Office, with a basic knowledge of good design.

Internship details: Intern will work 5-10 hours per week for one semester. Schedule is flexible within an 7:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. work day and a Monday - Friday work week. This is an unpaid internship.

Requirements: The intern must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in a program that offers course credit for internships. Applicants should have an interest in communications, journalism, public affairs, or marketing. The applicant should be enrolled as either a junior or senior.
