Beginning this spring Medica will no longer provide some types of health care coverage through the State of Minnesota. This page provides answers to common questions about this announcement and explains who will be affected.
No, definitely not. Medica will continue to be your health plan through April 30, 2017. The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is already working to help clients transition smoothly to different health plans.
If you need to change plans, you will get a notice in the mail. We began mailing these notices February 21 and plan to finish mailing them by the end of February. The notice lists your revised plan choices and explains next steps. Follow the notice instructions. See the 2017 Health Plan Selection website for more information.
On February 21, DHS began mailing notices to everyone enrolled in Medica who must change health plans. The notices list enrollees’ revised plan choices and explain next steps. We have also created a website for enrollees who must change plans that provides detailed information about choosing a new health plan. The notice includes the address for this website.
We’ll also work with health plans to help them reach out to their new customers. We’ll bring on extra team members to ensure we can provide extra support during the time of transition.
