DHS-operated special needs dental clinics close

3/18/2020 3:39:18 PM

DHS-operated special needs dental clinics in Brainerd, Fergus Falls, Cambridge, Faribault and Willmar are closed until further notice to avoid spreading the COVID-19 virus. The move follows a recommendation from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry that clinics postpone all non-emergency and elective dental care to protect patients, dental care providers and the community.

All appointments for routine services such as checkups, cleanings and fillings have been cancelled and will be rescheduled. We will continue to provide urgent and emergency services in the clinics using special protective measures. Patients should contact their clinics with questions and urgent requests.

Similarly, the Southern Cities Psychiatric Clinic in Faribault (which is collocated with the special needs dental clinic) has suspended in-clinic visits and will handle current and future appointments using video and telemedicine technology.

In all cases, the dental clinics and outpatient psychiatric clinic will continue to respond quickly to questions or concerns about medication and requests for refills.
