The percent of working-age (22-64 years of age) people on the disability waivers with monthly earnings slightly increased.
To help track progress, counties that are similar in population size are grouped together and called a "cohort." Cohort 1 includes Minnesota's smallest counties and has the highest percent of people with monthly earnings.
Working and earnings are important to people with disabilities as they become more independent. Studies have shown that outcomes like choice and self-esteem improve once a person with a disability is working and earning money. Work provides opportunities for a person to contribute to their community and beyond.
The number of working age people on Community Alternatives for Disabled Individuals (CADI) and Brain Injury (BI) waivers who have monthly earnings.
A higher percent means there are more working age people on the disability waivers employed and earning income. When the percent is low, fewer people have a chance to work. A higher percent means more people with disabilities have employment.
