Background Studies Update for Child Care Providers

The Department of Human Service recognizes that the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases poses significant staffing challenges for numerous providers across Minnesota. As a result, DHS returned to emergency COVID background studies as of 6:30 a.m. Nov. 19. DHS had been in the process of ensuring that all child care providers comply with new enhanced fingerprint requirements for background studies, which resumed on Oct. 21, 2020. With the return to emergency studies, DHS is again suspending further completion of enhanced studies. Additional information, including frequently asked questions about emergency background studies, is available on the background studies COVID-19 webpage.
