Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Health Care
Rachel Peterson serves as the deputy assistant commissioner of Health Care for the Minnesota Department of Human Services. In her role, Peterson assists in providing oversight and strategic direction to the administration, oversees health care operations and works across administrations to implement health care program changes and program integrity activities. She also represents Health Care and DHS on several committees that focus on integrating and modernizing our IT service delivery systems to ensure the people we serve are getting the care and support they need.
Prior to becoming the deputy assistant commissioner of Health Care, Peterson held many different leadership positions at DHS, primarily focusing on implementing and operationalizing various state and federal health care-related initiatives and changes, including the associated stakeholder engagement and support functions.
Peterson has been with the department for more than 25 years. She earned her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Benedict and Saint John’s University.
