ST. PAUL -The Minnesota Trade Office is accepting nominations for the 30th annual Governor's International Trade Awards, which honor Minnesota companies that have excelled in the international marketplace.

Award recipients will be recognized at a ceremony in April. Awards will be presented to Minnesota companies that have shown exceptional progress and success in foreign markets. In addition to honoring individual recipients, the award recognizes the positive effect that exports and trade have on the state's overall economy.

Awards will be given in two categories: manufacturing/services and agricultural commodities/processed food.

Minnesota-based companies that previously have not won the award are eligible to apply. Applicants should provide a narrative that shows the following:

1. Significant portion of business is international.

2. Demonstrated growth in international business over at least the past three years, with continued likelihood of growth.

3. Increased or maintained employment in Minnesota through the expansion of international trade activity.

4. Developed novel ideas or approaches to doing business internationally.

Details and application forms are located on the DEED website. The application deadline is Feb. 5, 2016. Questions may be directed to Paul Hansen at paul.hansen@state.mn.us.
