Guidance on Stay at Home Order
On March 25, 2020, Governor Walz issued Executive Order 20-20, directing Minnesotans to limit movements outside of their homes to help slow the spread of COVID-19. On April 8, 2020, Governor Walz issued Executive Order 20-33 which extends the Stay at Home Order until May 3, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. with some modifications. More information on those modifications is available here. If your industry is not specifically addressed, there have been no changes and your exempt/not exempt status remains the same.
The Governor has asked his agencies to begin planning on how to allow certain non-Critical Sector workers to return to work when it is safe to do so. Such a plan will include guidelines and requirements for appropriate social distancing, hygiene, and public health best practices. That guidance will be posted on DEED’s website once it is solidified and ready to implement.
We understand that you may have questions about how this will impact your employment, your employees, and your personal life. The resources below are meant to help you determine eligibility for Critical Sector worker exemptions and to answer other questions you may have.
NOTE: You are not required to carry any paperwork when you are traveling to and from your place of employment, or anywhere else. All Minnesotans are urged to voluntarily comply with this Executive Order.
