We know that the COVID-19 pandemic creates a number of new challenges for businesses, workers, and government. DEED is working closely with the U.S. Department of Labor, the Walz-Flanagan Administration, and the Minnesota Legislature to take proactive steps to ensure the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic do not cause unnecessary burdens on employers and workers in Minnesota.

Safely Returning to Work

Minnesota has begun the process of safely reopening. As we return to work and activities we enjoy, we have a shared responsibility to look out for each other and save lives.

For Businesses: Safely Returning to Work

EO 20-56 allows retail businesses to reopen beginning on May 18, as long as they have adopted a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan and limit occupant capacity to 50%.

Daily, Weekly and Monthly Unemployment Insurance Statistics: Our data tool provides counts of new applicants and people reactivating their Unemployment Insurance (UI) account (compare to initial claims) from March 16, 2020 when the first COVID-19 related UI applications started coming in.
