Connie has served as the Executive Director for Minnesota's Governor's Workforce Development Board for four years. After passage of new federal legislation in 2014, Connie led the GWDB through the organizational changes required by the new law. Changes included a new board structure, updating the By-laws, obtaining state legislative approval of the new By-laws, and establishing new committees and task forces.
Connie is a member of the National Governor's Association NGA Center for Best Practices. She has presented at national and international conferences and webinars on economic and workforce development including sector strategies and industry cluster initiatives. Connie led the Minnesota constituency to North Carolina to participate with other states and three international companies in the development of strategies to engage education, industry, and workforce. Prior to joining the GWDB, Connie's professional and executive career includes more than twenty years of experience in the public and non-profit sectors. Her non-profit background includes financing and development for affordable housing with the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership. Her public service experience with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development includes professional positions with community, workforce and economic development, broadband development, and serving as the state's Small Business Export Program Director. Connie led a 37 county federally funded, renewable energy industry-sector initiative focused on economic and workforce development and established the MNREM Board of Directors and served on the board. Connie was the Director of Special Projects with Minnesota Technology now known as Enterprise Minnesota and leading statewide workforce development for the manufacturing sector and broadband development.
Connie has a strong passion for initiatives assisting individuals resulting in self-sufficiency and successful employment outcomes. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Minnesota State.
