A Sunny Future in Renewable Energy
Minnesota experienced strong growth in electricity generated by solar power in recent years. According to the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, Minnesota had 680 megawatts of operational capacity from community solar gardens alone in the Spring of 2020. Overall, the state ranks 12th nationwide in solar energy installed with nearly 1,391 megawatts, enough energy to power 193,487 homes. Approximately 2.8 percent of the electricity produced in the state comes from solar energy.
