Small Business Assistance Partner Organizations

Here’s a list of nonprofit or public organizations that receive state funding through DEED’s Business Development Competitive Grant program to provide services and technical assistance to emerging businesses and entrepreneurs in Minnesota in 2020 and 2021. The Business Development Competitive Grant Program provides funding to groups that offer business assistance to targeted groups, including women, minorities, rural residents, technology-based companies and entrepreneurs.

Region Organization Description
Metro African Development Center This group provides training, lending and technical assistance to help African immigrants and refugees achieve economic prosperity in Minnesota.
Latino Economic Development Center This group provides cultural- and language-specific small business training and technical assistance to Minnesota's Latino communities.
Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers MCCD is implementing the Open to Business Program to assist entrepreneurs in all aspects of business plan development, financing, and technical assistance.
WomenVenture WomenVenture helps women entrepreneurs, low-income entrepreneurs, and women-owned businesses to develop and expand businesses and create jobs.
Northeast Minnesota Entrepreneur Fund This group helps people in Northeast Minnesota start and grow successful, locally owned small businesses.
Northland Foundation/Northeast SBDC We help startups and existing businesses start, grow and manage their business through one on one consulting, training, and finding lenders."
Northwest Minnesota Leech Lake Financial Services This project will assist individual entrepreneurs to establish and grow new businesses on the Leech Lake Reservation.
Central Minnesota Initiative Foundation This group is implementing the Enterprise Academy Program which provides tools and support to prepare low-income and minority businesses owners to succeed.
Saint Cloud State University Small Business Development Center The center provides programs and services for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the St. Cloud area.
Southern Minnesota Community and Economic Development Associates (CEDA) This group is implementing the Harness and Harvest program to provide business training and technical assistance to agriculture-related businesses in rural areas in Southern Minnesota.
Minnesota State University Small Business Development Center The center provides programs and services for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Mankato area.
Red Wing Ignite This group provides support, training, and networking opportunities for innovative startups and businesses in the Red Wing area.
Southwest Minnesota Lower Sioux Indian Community This project provides financial literacy workshops, financial counseling, a business plan development class and Native arts entrepreneurship workshops.
