Won passage of updating the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division law, which modernized their services and increased their funding.
Successfully advocated for an additional $2 million for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division (DHHSD) for deafblind support services, mental health services in ASL and updates for equipment labs, as well as a study of how to best provide services throughout the state.
Five-year plan completed and began the execution of the plan.
Passage of the bill to increase funds for the Commission of Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing Minnesotans (MNCDHH) by $200K in 2014 and $500K in 2015. The total budget prior for FY13 is $365K, for FY14 is $564K and for FY15 $865K.
Conducted 12 focus groups, 21 one-on-one interviews with key community leaders, surveys and led members and staff to completion of a strategic plan.
