Maya Larson

Administrative and Communications Specialist

As the Administrative and Communications Specialist, Maya does administrative, communications and financial work for the Commission. She also leads social media and serves as the Commission’s board liaison.

Maya graduated from Grinnell College with a BA in English and French. At college, she worked extensively on disability-related issues through her work at Grinnell’s Disability Resources office and served on committees to represent and advocate for students with disabilities. She also brings experience in communications and administrative support from her internships with a community health nonprofit, Wellshare International, and a disability rights nonprofit, the Alliance for Citizen Directed Supports.

Maya has volunteered on the Minnesota’s Disability Law Center’s “Into Adulthood” project and served as a DeafBlind mentor for the Midwest Transition Institute, a program for deafblind transition age youth. She currently serves as a trustee on the Minnesota DeafBlind Association Board.
