The lottery for the 2015 Made in Minnesota (MIM) Solar PV Incentive Program was completed in early April; 349 new residential, commercial, and community garden solar electric systems were selected to receive funding in the program’s second year. Applicants to the 2015 PV incentive program have been notified by the Minnesota Department of Commerce through email; a posting by MiM application number is available on the News, Updates and Presentations page of the .
The combined capacity of the planned systems represents more than 5.2 megawatts (MW) of new solar electric energy, an amount that will increase Minnesota’s total solar PV capacity by about 27 percent through this program alone (Minnesota had about 19.3 MW of solar PV as of September 2014).
Incentives are performance-based, established by a system’s energy production, and paid over 10 years. Owners of an approved and installed PV system will receive payments annually by July 1 based on the kWh output of the system in the previous calendar year. A lottery will be held each year for the next eight years from January 1-February 28 to encourage more new solar PV projects.
