The Minnesota Department of Commerce Energy Resources Division provides resources, assistance, research and analysis on wind energy. Commerce can help you with the steps involved to implement a wind project.
Renewable sources, including wind, solar, hydropower, and biomass, generated the largest share of Minnesota’s electricity in 2021, accounting for 29% of total in-state electricity net generation. Renewable generation, mostly from wind energy, has almost doubled over the past decade. In 2021, wind provided 22% of Minnesota’s total in-state electricity net generation.
