How to create an account with the state’s payment system
Commerce is using the Supplier ID system maintained by Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB), another state agency, to collect payment information and send that payment out for all EV Rebate applications, including those submitted by individuals.
This is a two-step process:
- Request a Supplier ID number from MMB by registering as a Supplier or Payee at the link provided in your email request (or type mn.gov/supplier into your URL bar).
- Reply to the email we sent with your Supplier ID number so we can associate that number with your EV Rebate application.
You need to complete both steps for the EV Rebate team to finish review of your application and be able to pay out your rebate amount. If you do not send Commerce a Supplier ID, your EV Rebate application cannot be paid.
To protect against fraud, all Commerce correspondence asking you for a Supplier ID will include your EV Rebate application number.

Common Questions about the Supplier ID System
Do I need to have a Supplier ID?
Commerce is using the Supplier ID system to collect payment information and send that payment out for all EV Rebate applications. If you do not send Commerce a Supplier ID, your EV Rebate application cannot be paid.
MMB’s instruction guide will show you options that you can select if you are an individual or payee as opposed to a business. If you have any further questions about the instructions provided, do feel free to reach out to MMB at efthelpline.mmb@state.mn.us or over the phone at 651-201-8106. They will be able to help you find the options when registering for a Supplier ID that are right for your situation.
How can I sign up for a Supplier ID?
Visit the website mn.gov/supplier and register for an account as a Supplier or Payee. MMB has provided an instruction guide that will show you how to fill out the registration. Find a link to that instruction guide here.
I’m having a technical issue with the Supplier ID system. What can I do?
Any technical issues, like not being able to log in to your Supplier ID account, seeing any glitches in the Supplier ID registration process, or the Supplier ID system saying you already have a Supplier ID, should be directed toward MMB by emailing efthelpline.mmb@state.mn.us or calling 651-201-8106.
How can I send Commerce my Supplier ID information?
We ask that you respond to our initial request for a Supplier ID and attach the email you received from the Supplier ID system. Some email systems will not allow you to attach an email to another email. In that case, you can save the Supplier ID email as a PDF and attach that instead, or you can copy and paste the relevant Supplier ID number into your email response.
