Chief Deputy Commissioner
Anne O’Connor serves as Deputy Commissioner and Chief of Staff for the Minnesota Department of Commerce. In her role, Ms. O'Connor oversees the Department's staff, divisions, and biennial budget. She works with agency leadership in regulating Minnesota's insurance, real estate, banking, and energy industries.
Ms. O’Connor previously served as Assistant Commissioner of Consumer & External Affairs and led the Department's Communications team. O'Connor began at the Commerce Department as Assistant Communication Director in 2011. Prior to her work at the Department, O'Connor began her public service as a Peace Corps Volunteer and has worked for the Saint Paul Department of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity and the Minnesota House of Representatives.
O'Connor holds a graduate degree in Political Science and Policy from the University of Hawaii-Manoa, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota in Political Science and is currently working on her Doctorate of Public Administration degree from Hamline University.
