Professional Development Requirements for Infection Control Education

Effective August 2017: An infection control course is mandatory for each licensee to maintain licensure. The course will primarily address patient safety and health issues as referenced in part 3100.6300 and chapter 6950.

Another important consideration for dental licensees is the OSHA requirement for annual Bloodborne Pathogen training.

There are various ways in which dental licensees can obtain education related to infection control in dentistry.  The Board of Dentistry does not endorse specific infection control or Bloodborne Pathogen training courses, rather, we encourage licensees to choose the most appropriate course(s) for individual needs and applicability to practice.
