Executive Order 20-101: Supervised Practice

On May 6, 2021, Governor Tim Walz signed Emergency Executive Order 21-21 rescinding Executive Orders 20-23, 20-28, and 20-101 effective May 28, 2021.  Normal Board licensure and regulation processes will resume on May 28, 2021. This includes fingerprinting for licensure, continuing education reporting, and compliance with in-person supervision requirements.  As of May 6, 2021, out-of-state telehealth registration applications will no longer be processed.

Beginning May 28, 2021, all supervision must again be completed according to statute and rule.  Executive Order 20-101 no longer applies to supervision.
  • LPCC General Method applicants must complete 75% of their supervision in person.  They may complete 25% of their supervision electronically.  These requirements are in Minnesota Statutes section 148B.5301 and cannot be waived or varied.
  • LPC applicants and licensees and LPCC Conversion Method applicants are required to complete 75% of their supervision in person.  They may complete 25% of their supervision electronically.  These supervision requirements are in rule, so individuals may request a variance to these requirements.  Link to the variance request: Variance Request Form
