Jim Varpness was recently appointed to the Board, where he serves as Co-Chair of the Program Operations Committee. His career spans 45 years and includes working at the community, state and federal levels supporting, developing and advocating for programs and policies that promote independent living, personal choice and individual dignity for older adults and persons with disabilities. He served as the Regional Administrator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration on Community Living, which includes the Administration on Aging and the Administration on Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities. Jim is a former State LTC Ombudsman and State Aging Director. He is also a member of the Age-Related Hearing Loss Task Force through the Minnesota Commission on the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing and represents the MBA on the Minnesota Council on Transportation Access.
