Becoming an Educator in Minnesota

Individuals interested in completing a Minnesota approved teacher preparation program may review the list of types of licenses available, as well as state approved licensure programs to search for a program of interest (below).

License Renewal: for instructions related to Minnesota teacher licensure renewal including: testing requirements, clock hour requirements/exceptions, FAQ, or administrative license renewal, visit Educator Licensing or email questions to mde.educator-licensing@state.mn.us.  Educator Licensing provides complete guidance for all licensing information and/or questions. From the Office of Higher Education: Help with student loans is now available for qualifying teachers.
Please see the Office of Higher Education news release about the Minnesota Teacher Shortage Student Loan Repayment Program from May 27, 2016 here. The online application is now available here.
