Eligibility
Public housing is limited to low-income families and individuals. Your eligibility is based on: 1) annual gross income; 2) whether you qualify as elderly, a person with a disability, or as a family; and 3) U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status. If you are eligible, the Housing Authority will check your references to make sure you and your family will be good tenants.
Applicants must meet income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Check with your local office for specific income limits.

Contact the Housing Authority where you want to live to apply for public housing. Waiting lists for public housing can often be long or closed.

The Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) Program allows low-income persons and families to live in subsidized housing managed by the City of Mankato. Housing staff manage 263 properties throughout Blue Earth County from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom single-family homes.
The Affordable Rental Housing Program includes Orness Plaza, Pioneer Plaza, Eastview Apartments and Breckenridge Townhomes, as well as many duplexes and single-family homes.
