Eligibility

To qualify for service an individual:
  • Must be a resident of Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey or Washington counties
  • Must be disabled or 65 years or older
  • Must show financial need based on the federal poverty guidelines
  • Only one animal per family for the life of the animal is eligible

Application process

Every client needs to submit an application and supporting documentation annually. Application details can be found online.

Program that supports pet owners by providing free or low-cost services, pet food or other supplies. MORE INFORMATION Works with veterinarians who provide free veterinary service to individuals who are disabled, or elderly and have limited financial resources. Veterinary member clinics provide the following services to the pets of eligible clients. Not all clinics supply all of the services. The coordinator selects a clinic that is able to meet the particular needs of the client's pet. Services provided:
  • Immunizations
  • Well checks/routine screenings
  • Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses
  • Routine dental procedures - not offered by all clinics
  • Minor non-elective surgeries
  • Euthanasia
Currently member clinics do not provide these services:
  • Grooming
  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Boarding
  • Urgent and emergency care
