Resource Facilitation is a free, two-year statewide telephone support service for persons affected by brain injury, including Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
- This service offers support in transitioning back to family life, work, school and the community.
- The service is available to anyone at any point after a brain injury. Many participants are referred at the point of discharge from the hospital to support them in their transition.
- Emotional support in coping with a new "normal"
- Finding mental health support and counselors
- Finding support groups
- Finding rehabilitation services, how to get assessed, primary care physicians
- Supporting caregivers with resources
- Helping educate family and friends of the "invisible" symptoms
- Logistics of returning to work, vocational rehabilitation and understanding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)rights
- If not going back to work, support in finding meaningful ways to structure the day
- Coaching federal, state, and county health and disability service systems
- Finding legal support for navigating Social Security Disability and providing advocacy
- Supporting parents and students with how to discuss return to school
- Connecting to addiction support and treatment services
- Support with creative problem solving to life barriers
