Eligibility

Housing Choice Vouchers are limited to low-income families and individuals. Your eligibility is based on: 1) annual gross income; 2) whether you qualify as elderly, a person with a disability, or as a family; and 3) U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status. Applicants must meet Income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: As of October 1, 2014 this agency will no longer accept applications from families that cannot demonstrate that they have "established residency" in Le Sueur County specifically. They are only accepting applications for families with a priority or preference of established residency. The waiting list will be closed to non-resident applicants.

Application process

Contact the Housing Authority where you want to live to get on a Section 8 Voucher waiting list. Waiting lists for vouchers are often long or closed. Government-funded program (also known as Section 8 vouchers) that provides rental assistance to eligible seniors, singles, families, and persons with disabilities to secure affordable housing. This Housing Authority agency accepts applications to the program and issues the vouchers to qualified applicants. This agency also makes the approved rental subsidy payment to the landlord. Participants will pay approximately 30% of their income for rent and are able to take the voucher with them if they move. Additional information can be found on the HousingLink website. MORE INFORMATION Administered through the Minnesota Valley Action Council (MVAC). Their main office is in Mankato, but county residents can also go to the Le Sueur County MVAC office in Le Center. Le Sueur County Housing and Redevelopment Authority does not offer any homeownership programs at this time.
