Most programs serve all Minnesota counties Service area may be dependent on program 

The Minnesota Department of Health lists hospitals that have different levels of services for people who are having or are recovering from a stroke. The designations are:
  • Comprehensive Stroke Center: This hospital has the personnel, infrastructure and expertise to diagnose and treat stroke patients who require intensive medical and surgical care, specialized tests or interventional therapies.
  • Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Centers
  • Primary Stroke Center: This hospital has the necessary staffing, infrastructure and programs to stabilize and treat most acute stroke patients.
  • Acute Stroke Ready Hospital: This hospital or 24/7 emergency center has the infrastructure and capability to care for acute stroke, including administration of intravenous thrombolytic therapy (also known as tissue plasminogen activator "tPA," or alteplase).
