An ombudsman is a neutral party who investigates consumer complaints. They work with both the consumer and the organization to resolve consumer issues and improve customer service. MORE INFORMATION The Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of Inspector General (OIG) handles complaints of fraud, waste, and abuse in HUD programs and operations.
  • Types of complaints include mismanagement or violations of law, rules, or regulations by HUD employees or program participants
  • Complaints will be kept confidential if received by phone, mail or in person; confidentiality cannot be guaranteed through email
  • Laws protect consumers from reprisals
