Supportive Housing - Low-Income Single Mothers

DESCRIPTION: Housing for people with low income that includes coordination of other services for residents. The coordination professional can help residents identify resources, navigate systems or help with applying to additional programs. MORE INFORMATION Prepares determined single mothers to excel in the workforce, readies their children to succeed in school, and reduces generational dependence on public assistance. Provides support in the following areas: * Support for a career track and college education * Quality early childhood education * Safe and affordable housing * Life skills training * Supportive community The housing program offers units in Austin, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester and Fargo-Moorhead. Also offers a meeting room, laundry room, computer lab, lending library, donation room, educational programs (tutoring, life skills, and early childhood education), employment assistance program, individual coaching, and parenting education.

Fee

There are no fees set up for program services such as support and personal development programs. Campus housing costs residents 1/3 of their income.

Eligibility

Eligibility: * Single mothers * Have dependent children under the age of 8 * Commitment to pursuing a college degree or diploma * Currently residing within commuting distance of a campus * Adhere to the handbook and resident manual * Participation in coaching sessions * Pay up to 30% of income for monthly rent Accepts ex-offenders reentering the general public population from a correctional facility.
