The US Access Board is an independent federal agency. It works to make buildings, technology and other equipment accessible to people with disabilities.
It provides:
- Leadership in accessible design
- Development of guidelines and standards on how to make things accessible
- Information, training, and technical assistance on the rules about accessible design in new construction and alterations
- Investigation of complaints from the public filed under the Architectural Barriers Act, which requires that federally-funded facilities be accessible
