Trains and places persons age 55 and older to serve special needs children in schools, preschools, community centers, child care centers, and shelters.
The volunteers in this program help children learn to read and provide one-on-one tutoring; mentor trouble teenagers and young mothers; care for premature infants or children with disabilities; help children who have been abused or neglected.
Foster Grandparents serve between 15 and 40 hours per week depending on the program.
This is an AmericCorps Seniors program.
