Legal aid program that offers legal counseling and/or representation for low-income individuals. Free or low cost legal services help people who are unable to afford a lawyer get access to the court system. MORE INFORMATION Hotline to provide legal guidance to relatives, kinship caregivers, parents, and attorneys seeking support in child welfare cases. Attorneys are available for consult and direct representation for cases involving issues such as:
  • Delegation of parental authority and third-party custody
  • Immigration issues related to or impacting child welfare intervention
  • Challenges with the foster care licensing process
  • Appeals of licensing actions or denials and placement decisions
  • Child protection primary case intervention
  • Adoption procedure
  • Public benefits or supports associated with foster care, relative placements or adoption
  • Voluntary placement and consent to adopt agreements
