Offers assistive technology devices and adaptive equipment that can help people with disabilities communicate, increase their mobility and live more comfortably. Learn more about assistive technology costs that are covered through waivers in the Community-Based Services Manual. MORE INFORMATION National non-profit organization providing high quality, low-cost braille books for children. Braille books are provided at each level of development, from toddler board books to classic literature for older children. New titles are added every year as volunteers translate print books into braille. Three free programs:
  • The Rose Project - Provides encyclopedia articles in braille for children in grades 1 - 12
  • Book Angel Program for Visually Impaired Children - Children (age 0 - 21) can receive 5 free braille books per year
  • Assist- a - Reader provides children with vision loss ages birth-21 in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa 10 free braille books of their choice each calendar year. Each reader is paired with a donor.
