Offers assistive technology devices and adaptive equipment that can help people with disabilities communicate, increase their mobility and live more comfortably. Learn more about assistive technology costs that are covered through waivers in the Community-Based Services Manual. MORE INFORMATION Provides a system that can help local emergency teams to rapidly locate people with disabilities that have a tendency to wander or get lost. If a person wearing the device is reported as missing, the tracking tool helps to quickly find and help the person. A personal locating unit device is worn around the wrist or ankle. It is worn 24/7, is waterproof, and transmits a tracking signal. If an enrolled client goes missing, the caregiver notifies their local Project Lifesaver agency, and a trained emergency team responds to the wanderer's area. Project Lifesaver provides first responders with a basic understanding of cognitive conditions to effectively manage the safe return of a client. A complete Personal Locator System can also be purchased. It comes with everything you need to search and track your loved one should a wandering event occur. This system is portable, lightweight and does not require a service fee and can be used if your loved one is out of a service area of a participating community.
